March Madness with Your Dog

For college basketball fans, the month of March means one thing…March Madness is almost here! It’s easy to get caught up in the madness. The excitement of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament is one of the most anticipated in sports. The tournament was first played in 1939, and has since evolved into an exhilarating competition of 64 teams, which are pitted against each other in one-and-done matches until the final two teams meet at the Big Dance. Only one team can be crowned champion.


At, we’re all about celebrating two of your greatest obsessions—your favorite sports teams and your favorite pet, so here are a few things we suggest keeping in mind in the wild weeks of March Madness.


The Bracket


Filling out a bracket is a time-honored tradition of March Madness. Whether you are a stats fanatic using analytics to make your picks or a casual fan making picks at random, filling out a bracket can be fun. Almost every year there is some shocking upset that even the experts could not have predicted. Because of this, even if you haven’t been following college basketball all season, you still have a chance to fill out a decent bracket based on tournament seeds, guessing, and luck.

The Games


There are a ton of options for actually watching the games. You can watch online, on TV, at home, at a friend’s house, at a sports bar, or even live at the arena. If you want your dog to be part of the game-watching party, your dog should be well-socialized and comfortable with crowds and loud noises (like the explosive cheering for a buzzer beater shot). If go out to watch a game, make sure you leave your dog in good care at home.
